Figure 8 : The profile options panel.
Active: If checked, enables the specified profile.
Axis: Selects the axis of interest. Eight axes are available: medial, transverse, straight, contour, horizontal, vertical, concentric and septa.
Mode: Allows any of the three different mode to be selected. If the “Image” mode is selected, straighten images of the particle along the specified axis are recorded in the Results table. If the “Plot” mode is selected pixel values measured along the specified axis are recorded in the Results table. Select “Both” to get both the “Image” and the “Plot” mode.
Method: Selects the method used to calculate the profile along the specified axis and over the specified thickness. The default method is the maximum intensity projection. The Q1 and Q3 methods are respectively the first and the third quartile intensity projection. Default setting is ‘mean’. This command is enabled when the ‘Plot’ or ‘Both’ mode is selected. Default setting is ‘default’.
Thickness: Selects the thickness of the line used to measure pixels intensities or to straighten images of the particle. Note that when the line width is bigger than 1, the profile will be calculated over the width using the specified method. Value is expressed in pixels. Default value is 1.
Extension: Selects the length of extension of the selected axis before measuring the pixel values or extracting the straighten images of the particle. Value is expressed in pixels. Default value is 0.
Shape method: Selects the shape measurement to be performed along the selected axis. Two methods are available: *none* and Curvature.
Curvature: Measure the curvature along the specified axis using the specified resolution.
Shape parameter: Sets a specific value for each Shape method. When ‘Curvature’ is selected, defines the resolution in pixels. Default value is 2.
